There are No Mistakes
Mistakes are part of the dues one pays for a full life. ~ Sophia Loren
Mistakes are normal. These so-called “mistakes” affect us when we’ve made a decision, and gone with it and it turned on us in a way that hurt. We either let others down or ourselves. We instantly regretted it. Never again, we say!
People are more hesitant to take responsibility for their choices down the line because they don’t want to feel that bad again. So, many avoid any kind of decision-making by staying indecisive or vague. Being confused is another tactic (whether they are conscious of this or not).
Ed Mylett’s book, The Power of One More, speaks about the commitment to trying one more time. That extra “give” if you will, makes a difference. You might now see it at the moment, but the build is life-changing. I suggest getting an audible of this one.
The Power of One More accompanies me on my 10-mile walks/runs. I miss Coco and Skylar a lot while I hike because we spent over a decade together doing hikes.
As you consistently do “one” more, you build confidence in yourself, and one day that one more is automatic. You’ll hear yourself saying, let’s try that one more time or one more and we’re good! This also brings to you clarity of self.
Realize that clarity is power. This is where you want to be. Not trying to control everything power, but self-empowerment.
It hit me hard when I first needed to make more difficult life choices for my senior dogs. I didn’t want to. I was angry that everything fell on me and I didn’t feel I knew what to do. And yet, only I had the final word. Just me.
I thought I could never go through this again. And then, this is how life is and with the things, animals, and people we care about. We simply cannot turn our backs no matter how difficult the situation may seem.
How to prepare for “life” is through meditation. You can meditate while walking with your pets, you can meditate while taking a bath, or you can meditate before you get out of bed, and you can meditate while gazing out of your window. Meditation is the quieting of the mind. For me, it’s a long walk in the woods or along the beach.
Because, by practicing now, today when those harder times come and your mind is racing, you’ll have the ability to slow it down. To find peace. To know the bigger picture.
Here are the suggested resources (audiobooks, books, online events) that I utilize daily and have had tremendous success in getting through this thing called life, even during the most challenging times. You will experience more clarity, focus, and purpose on “what to do” next.
I went through the loss of TWO of my pets (Coco and Skylar) within 4 months. They were 16 and 17 years old. I was extremely lost, sad, lonely, and depressed. Thankfully, I had a meditation routine already in place and I was able to harness my vulnerable feelings into a place of strength, abundance, and clarity.
The name of the game is to be ahead of the game. Be ready, to be ready, to be ready!
The best part about learning to shift your thoughts is that the tools you learn to process, stay. You’ll not regress and you will find yourself in a place of true strength, peace, clarity, focus, momentum, and love.
