The Art of Clarity
Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake. ~ Henry David Thoreau
Make clarity something you love. Your dreams follow suit.
Get clear on things you can change and get clear on things you cannot. When you’re clear on those things you can change, clarity will be easier to navigate.
That is me in this photo. I am sitting on a cliff overlooking the Oregon Coast when I was taking the most miraculous road trip down the coast toward Southern California with my two senior dogs, Coco and Skylar. They were 16 and 17 years old at the time.
We were in a 30-foot RV and having the time of our lives. The best part is that we had all the time in the world with each other! You should have heard our conversations and seen what we ran into! Pictured is Coco sitting by this (deceased) beached grey whale when we were near Ophir Wayside State Park. She was such a fantastic model!

Every day is a gift and everyday living should be in appreciation. Some days are easier and happier than others, yet knowing how to enjoy your journey begins with an appreciation of what you do have (even in your darkest hour). In other words, don’t dread any day with your pets. It’s all about appreciating the moments. And, there are some real doozies!
I believe that everyone has inner guidance. Only you know what is right for you. Find yourself doing things that make you feel good about yourself. The more you feel good, the more you want to feel good. Follow your heart. Get clear.
Make clarity something you love. Don’t live a confused life. Concentrate on being very clear on what you truly cherish. Find yourself daydreaming and seeing yourself there.
Today, in my daydream, I was at the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation in Indonesia. And, one day soon, I will be there. I see it in my mind, I read about it, I don’t buy products with unsustainable palm oil, and I believe in their mission of what they do and stand for. For me right now, I am there.
Another daydream I have is running with the animals at the cageless animal shelter Territorio de Zaguates in Costa Rica. I see myself learning how they run their shelter with over 1300 dogs. I see a revolution in our animal shelters and I’m at the helm.
I want to bring my experiences from there so that I too, can make a change to help all creatures great and small wherever I live. And, these are just two of my daydreams!!! My reality resides in this kind of thinking. Not in the seen, but in the unseen. I live from my heart.
This makes me feel good. These kinds of thoughts make me feel good. My feelings matter. I don’t spend time thinking bad thoughts. I just don’t. These are the things that are in my control.
Take these words by Thoreau “may we live our truest life in dreams awake”!
