What is a “Happy” place?
“Stay Close to Anything that Makes You Glad You’re Alive.” ~ Persian Poet, Hafiz
Hand’s down, my dogs Coco and Skylar kept me moving forward in good times and during really tough times. I knew they were “good” for me and I took extremely good care of them as they did of me.
I am an animal lover and I consider myself an “animal whisperer”. I’ve always had an innate way of communicating with them. So, for me, most times, it’s easier and more fulfilling to be surrounded by animals than it is to be surrounded by people. I’m sure if you love animals, you know just what I’m talking about.
Let’s talk about happiness. Doesn’t it last? Can one be truly happy? The answer is yes! And, it takes a clear mind and deliberate and conscious effort.
When I reflect on my past, I can pinpoint certain people and places that I’m glad are not in my life today. The grief and drama I went through were days I would never wish to repeat. Simultaneously, glad they happened.
Today, I have the clarity of mind and experience to avoid these same types of people and similar situations. When I encounter someone and feel dysfunctional energy, I pivot and “run” the other way because it doesn’t feel right. What doesn’t feel right, I’m outta there!!! I only allow what makes me happy. I look for “happy”.
It’s extremely important to note that I am at a place in my life where I am grateful to have had these experiences with these people of my past because so many valuable lessons were learned. These experiences have made me the person I am today and yes, I’m happy about this.
I’m meeting some amazingly cool individuals that I just love to spend time with whenever possible. This makes me happy.
Today, I don’t unconsciously “look” to others to fulfill something inside me that is my responsibility in the first place. My “happy” comes from me. And, I’m happy!
Find that “thing” that makes you glad you’re alive. Remember, the way you do one thing is the way you do everything. Love yourself and give yourself a break if you’ve let “you” down.
Become what you wish to see in this world and this world will open you to some pretty amazing adventures.
It takes some time and learning skills to understand and realize what makes you happy. The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself by Michael A. Singer is a good read for this. Be ready to find what makes you feel alive!
