Your Passion is Your Purpose
Never forget: At this very moment, we can change our lives. There never was a moment, and never will be, when we are without the power to alter our destiny. This second, we can turn the tables on Resistance. This second, we can sit down and do our work. ~ Steven Pressfield
Start with what you love to do and what you’re good at doing. Write down a list and match the two. Think of something you can spend hours on. You lose track of time because you love whatever it is you are doing. Here are some steps to help get you motivated.
- Do what you want and love, but don’t get in the way of someone else getting what they want and love. There is room for everyone!
- Realize that sometimes “you” are the problem. Take accountability for your actions. Move on.
- Get really good at helping the person to your left and helping the person to your right. Know when to ask for help when you know you can’t do it and know when to accept help when it’s offered. This is a skill. Learn it.
- Be the last to speak. Understand first where someone is speaking and why they have the opinion they have. Don’t just hear what they’re saying.
- When you gain a higher position in fame, fortune, and seniority, people will treat you better. They will hold doors open for you, they will get you a cup of tea and coffee without you even asking. Remember, this kind of “stuff” is meant for the position you hold. It is meant for the level you have achieved. It’s not you.
These are lessons of humility and gratitude. You can accept all the free stuff. You can accept all the perks and for sure, absolutely enjoy them. Just be grateful. Our personal gratitude is what counts. Remember this.
Your internal guidance will always lead you. Listen to it.
Your pet has taught you well. Pick yourself up at whatever stage you are with your beloved companion and follow your heart. Your strength lies within your passion.
When you find that sweet spot, you’re on your way to living an authentic and happy life!
Steven Pressfield has an easy and excellent read in, The War of Art. I loved this book and found it so helpful, I bought his follow-up books, Turning Pro and The Artist’s Journey.
All three of Steven Pressfield’s books are very helpful in finding your passion, especially when you might be feeling down and out and lost.
